TreeAge Pro 2011

TreeAge Pro has been completely rewritten for the 2011 release.

TreeAge Pro 2011 introduces a more modern, user-friendly and flexible interface, and enhances TreeAge Pro's famously robust set of modeling and analysis functions.

Check out what is coming this summer in TreeAge Pro 2011, Release 2.0.

License Eligibility for TreeAge Pro 2011

TreeAge Pro 2011, Release 1.0 is available to anyone with...

  • an active annual license.
  • a standard license (aka, "perpetual") with maintenance through 1/1/2010.

You can check your license/maintenance expiration date in TreeAge Pro, under Help > License Manager, or by logging in at the Support page.

TreeAge Pro 2011, Release 2.0 requires maintenance through 7/1/2011.

New Architecture/Platform
  • TreeAge Pro 2011 offers the benefits of a modern, modular software architecture
    (Eclipse Rich Client Platform).
  • Cross-platform: TreeAge Pro versions for Windows® and Mac OSX® (64-bit) are now available; a version for Linux®/Unix will be released shortly (beta versions may be downloaded now).
  • Accommodates plug-ins for extended functionality.

Modern/Flexible User Interface
  • Dynamic, multi-threaded user interface for smooth handling of background tasks.
  • Tree Diagram Editor for creating and reviewing model structure:
    • Tabs for open models (and reports/charts). Open multiple editors on a model.
    • Drag and drop new/existing nodes.
  • Views to easily find and modify elements of the model:
    • Tree document properties: Lists of variables, tables, distributions, clones, etc.
    • Node properties: Comments, variable definitions, Markov info, etc.
    • Plus: Project/file management, model overview, debug console, etc.
  • Customizable workbench perspectives organize editors and views for efficient workflow.
  • Context-sensitive application Help system, plus model-specific help (user authored).
  • Interactive assistance for locating/editing model elements and building expressions.
    • Search all models within a folder or project; advanced “regular expressions” support.
    • Filter lists of model elements (variables, trackers, tables, distributions, preferences).
    • Auto-completion when typing names of variables, functions, etc. in the Formula Editor.
  • More flexible Analysis & Reporting:
    • Fully-customizable, high-resolution charts: modifiable SQL queries, new chart sub-types (e.g., 3D).
    • Create analysis scripts/sequences using JavaScript.

Online Demos
  • Introduction to the User Interface: A brief introduction to the TreeAge Pro 2011 user interface, including editors, views, and perspectives.
  • TreeAge Pro Player: Create a player model that limits access to a model to a predefined interface. No license is required to open a player model.

TreeAge Pro 2011, Release 2.0

TreeAge Pro 2011, Release 2.0 should be available in August, 2011. Check above for license eligibility.

TreeAge Pro 2011, R2.0 introduces a new feature called the TreeAge Pro Player. The Player allows you to share a model with an individual who does not have a license for TreeAge Pro. A consultant might use this feature to share the model to his/her client.

In order to use the Player, the modeler must first create a Player Interface for the model, resulting in a password protected Player Model with the *.trvx extension. The modeler determines which input variables can be changed and which analyses can be executed. The modeler also determines whether or not the player should be able to display the model structure.

The Player Model can be opened with TreeAge Pro, but functions are limited to those exposed by the model interface.

Plans for Future Releases
  • Expressions in Tables: Run simulations on multiple computers to speed up long simulations.
  • Distributed Simulations: Run simulations on multiple computers to speed up long simulations.
  • Sensitivity Analysis & Microsimulation: Run successive Microsimulations while varying a single variable to generate one-way sensitivity analysis output.
  • Filter/refactor Simulation Output: Segregate simulation output based on specific output elements (e.g., subgroups).
  • Java Functions: Integrate Java functions into models for list processing, logical proceedures, etc.
  • Patient-Specific Simulation: A proprietary, user-friendly interface for building models unconstrained by traditional tree/Markov structures.
  • Model-to-Code Transformation: Transform models to Java code to materially reduce the time needed for complex simulations and to enable modelers to extend the functionality of TreeAge Pro by modifying the resulting Java code.
