Technical Questions

How do I get technical support?
Places you may want to check first:

  • the Read Me file available from the Help Menu from within the software
  • help on fixing license problems/errors
  • the PDF User's Manual, which can be downloaded and explains all of the features in the software
  • the Maintenance Updates page, which posts the latest free software updates, which
    fix bugs in earlier versions.

What is the Annual Maintenance Agreement?
The Annual Maintenance Agreement is an optional program offered to all users of TreeAge Pro
software. Your new software purchase comes with 12 months of the service at no additional cost.
The Annual Maintenance Agreement includes technical support via phone or e-mail, free version
upgrades during the term of the agreement and access to all maintenance updates.

I bought the software. Why does it still say it is a 21-day trial?
All versions of TreeAge Pro install initially as 21-day trials and can be unlocked on a specific computer using a serial number. You may unlock your version by going to the Help Menu within the software and selecting "License Manager" and then "Internet Authorization." In addition, the Read Me files available when downloading the TreeAge Pro software provide details about how to unlock your software.

 

What is the License Manager?
The License Manager is our security solution for our software. It is managed by Crypkey, a software-based copy protection system used with all versions of TreeAge Pro. With Crypkey, your software will install initially as a 21-day trial version and can be unlocked on a specific computer using your serial number. You may unlock your version by going to the Help Menu within the software and selecting "License Manager" and then "Internet Authorization." The Read Me files available when downloading the TreeAge Pro software provide details about how to unlock your software.

What hardware and software are required to run TreeAge Pro?
The Read Me files available when downloading the TreeAge Pro software explain installation requirements in detail.

All TreeAge Pro products (TreeAge Pro 2004, TreeAge Pro Excel, TreeAge Pro Healthcare, TreeAge Pro Interactive and TreeAge Pro Suite run under Windows 98, Me, NT, 2000 and Xp. TreeAge Pro products will work on a Macintosh, but require PC emulation software.

Minimum memory requirements vary by operating system (from 4 to 12 MB). More memory is required if larger models are created (~1MB per 1500 nodes) and/or long simulations are performed.

Required hard disk space is approximately 15 MB.

 

What does TreeAge Pro install on my computer?
In addition to installing the software, help files and examples, the TreeAge Pro setup program also:

  • installs and starts the Crypkey License service (under NT/XP/2000)
  • creates a "TreeAge\Sitekey\" sub-directory containing the license files, usually in
    the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\" directory

For the NT/XP/2000 Crypkey License service to work (which TreeAge Pro requires), it must be installed by someone with administrator rights.

For the software to function under any license (trial or full), the user must be given "Write" privileges for both the "TreeAge\Sitekey\" sub-directory's files, as well as those in the directory where TreeAge Pro is installed (usually "C:\Program Files\TreeAge Pro ...").

 

Can TreeAge Pro be integrated with other software?
TreeAge Pro is a complete application, not simply an adjunct to a spreadsheet. It is possible, however, to create dynamic linkages between models created in TreeAge Pro and other applications, such as Excel spreadsheets. It is always possible to export analysis results from TreeAge Pro into specialized, statistical software.

Why do I need decision analysis software?

How do I update my copy of TreeAge Pro?
There are two types of software updates:
1. Maintenance Updates - A maintenance update is an update to the software consisting of minor enhancements and/or additions. An update requires that you have an earlier release of the same version of the software already running. You may update our software now by visiting our Maintenance Updates section. There is no cost to update your software.

2. Upgrades - An upgrade is a new version of our software that includes significant functional enhancements and feature additions. Upgrades are available for those who have an up-to-date Annual Maintenance Agreement or who own an active Annual License. How is TreeAge Pro licensed?
There are a number of different types of licenses for the TreeAge Pro software. Most versions are available both as perpetual licenses or annual licenses.
